Winner of the 2023 Rick Campbell Chapbook Award Glass Manifesto performs grievous intimacy. Irritated and irritating, it considers the burn we breathe and offers a gravid wisening. — Janet Desaulniers, author of What You’ve Been Missing
GLASS MANIFESTO BY WILL RUSSO $12.00
XI.
Glass screens: fog frozen over the lake,
clouds layered in steam. Whirlybird
and chimney’s discharge.
Ease of neglect —
slighted fields, ramps and slants. Loss lends distance,
disordered glimpses.
Ridged roof. Pavilion. Cutout park.
Gridlock of the city.
A waveguide —
Light passing clarity —
On the lake, ampoules
of self-important ships. Nets, rods,
and scattering fish, wisened up.
Unsure origin. Horizon curves
so slightly I’m fooled.
