What For, the debut poetry collection by Geoff Collins, starts and ends with a rainstorm. In between appear visions of a marsh path, heat lightning, murmurings, floods, drownings, and an assassination. Throughout, the author weaves a tapestry of images with memorable appearances by sparrows, owls, oak trees, switchgrass, and a beloved black dog.
